Camp Sundown in upstate New York is a camp designed
specifically for sun sensitive children and their
families as a way to meet other folks sharing
similar problems, creating similar solutions and to
enjoy a "camp" experience like their peers - just on
a different time clock.

During the Camp a special troupe of clowns entertain
the campers.
Professional and Volunteer Clowns are helping make
Camp Sundown possible through their direct efforts
and donations. Among those who entertained us at
Camp Sundown
over the years are
Moonlite the XP Clown
(a.k.a. "Tots"),
Doctor Wack-O
(a.k.a. "Bubba")
and Bootsie and Peanut.
This special camp has been assisted by Clown Alleys
across the country with the Red Nose Sale. As the
clowns entertain they offer the foam noses for a
dollar donation. Clowns troupes from Virginia to
Texas to Ohio have all raise money for the camp.
At Clown Town in 2005 and again in 2006 the Sunday
Service collection was dedicated to the campership
program at Camp Sundown. In addition to the
collection several of the alleys present, including
Clowns Serving Christ have begun supporting the Red
Nose Campaign.
The camp is a project of the XP Society.
The Xeroderma Pigmentosum Society, Inc. (XPS), was
formed by the parents of a daughter with XP as a way
to create support for individuals with XP and their
families. XP is
A rare genetic defect in ultraviolet radiation
induced DNA repair mechanisms; characterized by
severe sensitivity to all sources of UV radiation
(especially sunlight).
